It's all about Ducks!

The Christmas break is a great time for myself and the team to take the foot off the pedal and relax with family and friends for a week or so.

It's good though to be back and getting stuck into 2022!

Get your ducks in line ..


This week has all about ducks... Getting them set up and in line ready for performing in 2022.


So, Development plans for Quarter 1 all sorted - there are some exciting items in the plan which I will look forward to talking about soon!

Friday was a day of goal planning for the first Quarter. The overall aims, goals and targets for 2022 as a whole were complete before Christmas, but like most businesses we break those down into 4 quarterly chunks.

This quarter is especially important.

Why ?

The end of the madness ?


Well, firstly the feel is that this will be the first quarter where the motor trade madness of 2021 becomes "normal". I don't mean that necessarily things have returned to normal overall, but the motor trader is now seeing this as normal. This is a major opportunity for us as the trade starts to review the last couple of years, how it's businesses have changed and focus on where their businesses need to be in the next few years.

Secondly, I look at my order book generated in 2021 for implementation in this quarter and note than nearly 25% of this consists of Motorhome dealerships! We've always sold to Motorhome (Caravan and other dealerships) but I have to be honest and say these are "incidental" sales - we have never directly marketed this sector. Our targets have never included sales in this sector. This changes in 2022 and we look to deliver the benefits of Navigator to more dealers in this sector.

Most importantly, after being the total Sales team for the whole of the second half of 2021, our two new Sales team members start their induction next week. Induction for us is mainly immersing them into our culture, and our way of consultatively allowing our prospects to buy into the benefits of our solution. I look forward to introducing our new team soon.

As a subtext to this, looking back on 2021, a key thing for me has been - as a 50 year old business owner of 25 years, I'm still learning! Last year, I learnt masses about Sales and Marketing - the weakest elements of my business knowledge. This has been through books, webinars, conferences and coaching. This has continued in 2022 and I should put a shout out to Phil M Jones - Author of books such as "Exactly What to Say" - who gave an excellent webinar to my Business Coaching group on Friday. I continue to learn the power of not what you say, but *HOW* you say it and would recommend his material to anybody who is in sales (or in business in general).

Perhaps a random collection of thoughts for early Jan but it reflects activity at the moment very well - lots of seemingly unconnected and therefore random activity which will later this year build into our 2022 results!

So - here's to the rest of 2022!
