I was recently quoted as saying "The DMS is dead"...
Of course, I mean that the DMS system as we know it is changing. Traditionally, the Dealer Management System provided support for In-Dealership processes such as Invoicing, Workshop Management, Vehicle Stock Control and Accounting.
However, the dealership is changing. The requirement is to "be online". As a DMS provider, it's my responsibility to get you online with the minimum of hassles and to do that we have had to evolve.
We've had to become suppliers of not only the core DMS system but also provide all the hooks, tools and extend our processes to encompass online, offline and any other way of transacting that we can!
Want a web site ? No problem, we can do that.
Want to advertise cars direct from the DMS system ? Yep.. no hassle.
Want to reserve or even sell cars online ? Of course!
How about Online Service Booking ? yep...
The key to all the above, is that everything is hooked up.... So new stock can be advertised straight from within Navigator. If an online enquiry or reservation is made, then this links in with our CRM to create a lead and even a Sales Order if the vehicle is "sold".
Online Service Booking creates workshop repair orders in Navigator, so no re-keying of information is required.
But, we are pushing to go further. Self-service kiosks have been used in the airline industry for a few years to check customers onto flights. Navigator now supports this technology for Service Customers - all fully integrated.
The journey continues...
